“Welcome to another chapter of your life; welcome to one of the most humbling profession I know, the teaching profession,” Dr. Ramon M. Docto said in his opening remarks.

“You are about to teach during one of the most memorable year in history. I understand that some of you are anxious and confused to begin teaching online. Hence, we all try our best to train and prepare you through series of webinar training.”

“You may already aware of possible negative effect and stumbling blocks we may face in the next few days, but let me ask you my fellow educators to rise to the challenge in the new normal. I encourage you to persevere and adapt to any challenge as we navigate through them together with courage and kindness,” Dr. Docto added.

Topics discussed were Self-Awareness and Self Mastery by Professor Rossana Colendra, Health and Wellness Program by Engr. Harthwell Capistrano, Financial Literacy by Professor Marichu Mozo, Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers by DepEd Public School District Supervisor Rowena Gaviana, Flexible Learning Options by Professor Rudyr Bacolod, Magna Carta for Public Teachers by Professor Ronald Brillantes and Gender Development by Professor Ma. Ching Sayang.

“Thanks to technology, webinars have evolved to become far more efficient than in-person meetings or conferences. Technology has offered educators the opportunity to benefit from online professional development and continuing education,” Dr. Española said in her welcome remarks.

The webinar was also attended by Dr. Ma. Chona Rizada, program chair of Education, Palawan State University Graduate School.

As part of the community extension of Palawan State University, the webinar last June 2 has been beneficial to the participants’ continuing professional development as educators amidst the challenges brought about by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
