The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Palawan Provincial Office and the Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) and Farm Schools in the province are continuously lending their helping hands during these trying times.
In the recent press release of TESDA Palawan that they posted on their Facebook page, the said agency, the TVIs and the other groups, have provided assistance to the residents of different barangays of the City of Puerto Princesa and the Province.
Puerto Princesa School of Arts and Trade (PPSAT), the TESDA administrator, provided 900 pieces of face masks to frontline service workers thru the efforts of its Dressmaking NCII students/alumni and trainer Ms. Eleanor Solomon. Also, the group of PPSAT’s TET Head, Rene Socrates, donated around 167 pieces of face shields to COVID-19 frontliners.
The other various technical vocational schools that extended their help in marginalized constituents of the City of Puerto Princesa and in the Province of Palawan are the Yamang Bukid Farm; Jesus the Divine Son Academy, Inc.; Laura Vicuna Foundation-Palawan, Bonsay Farm, San Brendan College, Inc. and the Tree of Life Nursery.
For Yamang Bukid Farm, they distributed 20,000 assorted vegetable ssedlings to Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) and another 10,000 for Bgy. Marufinas, Puerto Princesa City.
For five days, the Farm provided milk to 2,500 frontliners while around 5,000 beneficiaries received fresh carabao milk, especially the malnourished children and stranded tourists, in partnership with the Philippine Carabao Center.
The recent fire incident affected children of Bgy. Bagong Silang likewise received some Buffalo’s fresh milk.
The Jesus the Divine Son Academy, Inc., Puerto Princesa City donated to the Sagip Kababayan Program a cash worth of P2,000.
While the Laura Vicuna Foundation-Palawan distributed different vegetables and four sacks of rice to Bgy. Mangingisda that during that time was placed under a total lockdown and also prepared food packs for 100 frontliner beneficiaries.
The Bonsay Farm in the Municipality of Batarza, Palawan distributed farm products such as rice, eggs, vegetables, among others to 250 indigenous people and frontliners. They also prepared food packs for 150 frontliner beneficiaries for three days.
San Brendan College, Inc. in the town of Taytay, Palawan distributed food packs such as noodles, canned goods, rice, coffee and sugar to 615 beneficiaries in the different barangays of the said municipality.
And once the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) is lifted, a community-based training in Organic Agriculture Production NC II will be conducted by the Tree of Life Nursery and PO Palawan for the indigenous peoples of the municipalities of Bataraza, Brooke’s Point, and Dumaran.
