Coral Bay Nickel Corporation (CBNC) donated one hundred sacks of rice and canned goods to the Municipality of Balabac as part of the company’s relief efforts for those affected by the enhanced community quarantine due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The relief assistance was turned over on April 29 to Mr. Danny Boy Harani, Emergency Operation Center Officer and concurrent Tourism Officer of Balabac. According to Mr. Harani, CBNC is the first to extend help to the island municipality.

Balabac Mayor Shuaib J. Astami expressed his gratitude to the company’s generosity through a letter.

“Our sincerest thanks for helping us and the people of Balabac in this challenging time. We owe you and your company a big heart by showing your concern and love for our people who are in need of help during this difficult time,” Mayor Astami wrote.

Providing relief assistance to the people of Balabac is challenging because many reside in island barangays, adding further difficulty is the rice supply which is still being sourced outside of the municipality. However, the municipality is coping up as they are on their second tranche of providing relief assistance to their residents.
