Vice Mayor Asian Palanca of Coron, Palawan has taken a firm stance against the recent actions of Amadeus Pagente, known by the stage name Pura Luka Vega by passing an endorsement letter to declare the latter as persona non grata in the municipality.

This comes after a controversial performance by Pura Luka Vega in which he dressed as the Black Nazarene in drag and sang a remix version of the revered Christian prayer, Ama Namin.
This act of blatant disrespect has drawn condemnation from Catholics all over the Philippines who view it as an affront to their faith, community values, and the Lord.

The Ama Namin, a cornerstone of Christian prayer, holds deep significance for believers as it was taught by Jesus Himself to His disciples.

The Holy Spirit guides Christians in the meaningful practice of connecting with Our Father through this prayer. However, Pura Luka’s performance has raised concerns about the trivialization of a sacred practice, turning it into a source of entertainment.

Critics argue that such actions not only mock the Christian faith but also demonstrate a lack of unity and respect for fellow believers. In response, the Saint Augustine Parish in Coron has also taken a strong stance, voicing support to Palanca.

Just recently, Cebu City is the latest LGU to declare Pagente persona non grata following Manila, Bukidnon, Floridablanca, Pampanga; Toboso, Negros Occidental, General Santos City, and Nueva Ecija.

Despite coming under fire, Pagente denied any wrongdoing, insisting that her performance was a form of art.
