The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), as part of the Consumers’ Month, is strictly implementing the Price Act which mandates all licensed stores and retailers to put price tags on every product they are selling.
This is strictly implemented in retail stores and outlets that are selling basic and prime commodities such as grain products and meat and agri products.
She added that the Price Act is there to protect the consumers and its implementation is their advocacy for the month.
She said that even licensed grains retailers and meat sellers are also covered under the law. It is requiring them to put tags on the products to easily monitor and stabilize the prices according to the Suggested Retail Price (SRP).
She stated that whoever disobeys the law will be punished with penalty.
She also warned the consumers to patronize or buy stores who are abiding by the act for their own protection.
The Price Act is now strongly implemented in the municipality of El Nido as the DTI and its partner-sectors conducted a monitoring of the market and retailers in their community.
This is after the LGU localized the Price Act into an ordinance giving it more teeth.
