Six hundred sixty seven (667) candidates have filed their Certificates of Candidacy for the upcoming election in the municipalities around Palawan including the city of Puerto Princesa.
Provincial Election Office said of the 667 candidates 66 are running for mayor, 49 for vice mayor, and 552 for municipal and city councilor.
522 of these candidates are males and 145 are females. The town of Rizal has the highest number of COC’s being filed with 45 candidates, followed by Busuanga wih 39 candidates, and Puerto Princesa City with 38 candidates.
However, there are five candidates for provincial governor which includes re-electionist Gov. Jose Ch. Alvarez, Christopher A. Morales, Arthur R. Ventura, Marchelle G. Crispo and Richard M. Lopez.
While in the city of Puerto Princesa, 7 were to compete as mayors which includes Jimmy Canete, Luis Marcaida III, Eliceo Oloroso, Edmundo Katon, Mayor Lucilo Bayron and his daughter Judith “Raine Bayron”.
Nancy Socrates and Rogelio Castor also filed for vice mayor while a total 29 candidates will run for city councilor.
However, both Provincial and City Comelec reminded all voters to vote and choose the right leaders in the upcoming election.
