The Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Vicente, Palawan is set to launch Safety Seal Certification Program for business establishments this coming September to ensure that the consumers, clients and staff are safe from the threat of COVID-19.
According to Business Permits and Licensing Officer (BPLO) Rexel Rosauro, the establishment must follow the minimum public health standards, use the StaySafePH mobile app and have a valid Mayor’s Permit to be qualified and awarded with Safety Seal Certification.
The Inspection and Certification Committee of the LGU will conduct inspections on establishments such as retail stores/sari-sari stores, public market stalls, restaurants and canteens, cash remittance services, rental houses/apartments and restaurants.
Licensing Officer added that the owners of the establishments can conduct their own assessment using a checklist available on the official website (www.sanvicentepalawan.gov.ph/safety-seal) or in their office. If the requirements in the checklist are met, they can apply for the inspection.
The Safety Seal is valid for six months. It may be revoked if there’s a violation of any of the provisions stated in the checklist. It could also be the reason for the temporary suspension of the operation of an establishment until the policy against COVID-19 is followed again.
The LGU is one of the designated issuing authorities for the implementation of such program based on DOLE-DOH-DILG-DOT-DTI Joint Memorandum Circular No. 21-01, Series of 2021. Some other issuing authorities are the Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
