During the “Arampangan”, on September 10, 2021, the Palawan Provincial Information Officer (PIO) Atty. Christian Cojamco shared that there are 167,000 Palawenos benefiting from the scholarship program of the provincial government.

He stated that each scholar receives a total of P140,000 annually for their tuition fees.

“Sa ating mga medical scholars, ang kanila pong tuition na natatangap every semester is P70,000 a total of P140,000 per year,” Cojamco said.

He also emphasized that the said medical scholars are not exclusive to the provincial government alone and they can accept other scholarship offers from their respective schools.

“By the way, itong medicine scholar ay hindi po exclusive. Kung sila po ay mag-qua-qualify din sa ibang scholarship na ibinibigay ng kanilang pinag-aaralan [ay] okay lang po ‘yun kung iyon ay mas makakatulong sa kanila. Hindi po natin kina-cancel ang scholarship na binibigay ng Province of Palawan,” he added.

He gave assurance that even during the internship period, the provincial government will continue to allocate a budget for each semester.

After passing their physician licensure exam, they will work at the hospitals throughout the province with a salary grade of 22 or more than P60,000. Furthermore, the length of service will depend on the length of their scholarship where 1 year of studies is equivalent to 1 year of service.
