RIZAL, PALAWAN — Two motorcycle-riding men shot dead a 47-year-old employee of the town of Rizal around 7:30pm on July 21, at Purok Mahogany, Brgy. Punta Baja, Rizal, Palawan.
The victim was identified as Jhon Padpad Acosta, married, and a resident of Purok Balite, Barangay Punta Baja, Rizal, Palawan. The killers are still unidentified.
Investigation disclosed that the victim and Romeo Reyes were on board black Mitsubishi Delica vehicle traversing along national highway going to south direction. The two temporarily stopped in front of Jose P. Rizal National High School to buy cigarette at a store when a motorcycle with two (2) unidentified persons on board arrived/stopped and one of the suspects shot the victim twice hitting his body.
After the carrying out the crime, the criminals fled towards the south direction of Rizal, Palawan.
Acosta was rushed to the Rural Health Unit of Rizal for medical treatment but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Recovered from the crime scene were two (2) slugs of unknown caliber. The motive is also unknown.
The personnel of Rizal MPS are still conducting hot pursuit operation and coordination with adjacent police stations and friendly forces in the area for possible apprehension of the criminals.
