After gaining excess baggage from noche buena and media noche, we all want to get rid of that holiday fats, some may hit the gym or jog around the town but what are the new and fun activities that you can do together with your family and barkada while working out? You can go Hiking or swimming at the beach and maybe road trips which could all be done at Brgy. Simpocan.

Simpocan, a soothing rural village facing the South China Sea, situated about 2 hours drive from the heart of Puerto Princesa you will arrive at their humble town and look for local guides and visit the mother tree. Getting there requires a guide from Sitio Bualbualan for approximately P300 per group, the trail is about 30 mins to 40 mins hike. “Mother Tree,” features an enormous ipil tree that is more than 100 years old. It is about 60 to 80 feet high, with the diameter of eight people arm stretched around the tree. Enjoying the nice view and majestic scenery are not the only perks in hiking. It’s good for your health, too. Hiking is a powerful workout that can strengthen your core, improve balance, Help control your weight and it not only serves as a great exercise but also helps to relieve stress which is the often contributing factor to anxiety and depression.

After relishing the sweaty and tedious trail, you’ll want to relaxed and feel the onshore breeze your next stop is the Tagkawayan beach. The beach can be found along Simpocan Road in only 20 to 30 mins ride and as soon as you get out of the car you’ll have ocean views Spanning about 700 meters, it has fine, mocha-brown sand and feels a bit remote. This beach is underdeveloped and is best for camping it aslo have a stay in home and spacing out in the sound of waves. The waves are a little bit strong so when in the water or near the water line (where the water hits the shore), never put your back to the waves. Besides from enjoying the waves, swimming and loving the sea breeze. There are also health benefits in swimming just like hiking, swimming is a great workout because you need to move your whole body against the resistance of the water. It also helps maintain a healthy weight, healthy heart and lungs being a relaxing and peaceful form of exercise Swimming also alleviate stress.

After dipping into the beaches you can go on to the road and exit to Brgy. Bacungan there you can find the Yamang Bukid Farm; dubbed as the mini Baguio of Palawan, you can enjoy the scenery and nothing is more relaxing after a long road trip than a breath of fresh air. They also offer organic food products like vegetables and fruit juices all of the foods product is develop and package inside the farm. Organic fruits and vegetables contain more nutrients, antioxidants and healthy plant compounds than conventionally grown which allow you to stay on track with losing that extra weight in a new, fun and adventurous way.
