THE SONG: IT’S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES

The first time I heard this song, I was mesmerized because it was ‘fun’-tastic and describes Filipinos as “lahi ng masasaya” (race of happy people) and “mababaw ang ligaya” (easy to please). It also encourages not only foreign tourists but our fellow Filipinos to explore our country, which the song likened to paradise.

Below is the lyrics of the song:

Kating kati na ba ang iyong mga paa?

Handa nang umalis, magliwaliw at lumarga?

Buti na lang taga-dito ka… ‘Sing dami ng happenings

Ang dami ng isla

It’s more fun in the Philippines

Bakit pa lalayo? Sobrang swerte kaya ng tsinelas mo

Nakatapak ka sa paraiso

It’s more fun in the Philippines

Bakit pa lalayo? Mula Batanes hanggang Jolo

Iba ang saya ng Pilipino

It’s more fun in the Philippines

Nandito nang lahat, Saan pa pupunta?

Malalim ang dagat at mababaw ang ligaya

Halatang-halata na Pilipino ka

Abot-langit ang iyong ngiti, Lahi ng masasaya

======================================

Back in 2012, the Department of Tourism (DOT) launched its ‘It’s More Fun in the Philippines’ campaign, replacing the ‘WOW Philippines’ campaign which started in 2002.

The man behind this campaign is David Guerrero, chairman of an advertising agency. He said that the character ‘Fun’ is very Filipino and ‘More’ is only a part of it. It is people’s desire to have fun, possibly too much fun.

The ad goes beyond featuring the country’s top destinations. Each destination offers a unique lifetime experience. And with this, it encourages all tourists to experience the Philippines themselves and to know how it is to be a Filipino while learning the culture. Our tourist attractions are not just the beaches and the fiestas, but the genuine warmth and friendliness of Filipinos that make the Philippines more fun to visit.

Moreover, if you ask different people from all walks of life, I am sure they will also give you so many different reasons why they love traveling to the Philippines. The country’s official tourism tagline “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” truly encourages all of us to visit our very own tourist destinations so we can come up our own reasons!

TARA NA… BIYAHE TAYO! J  IT’S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES!
