The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to bring widespread rainfall across the country, with Palawan among the areas expected to receive significant precipitation, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its latest advisory, PAGASA reported that cloud clusters forming along the ITCZ are being monitored closely, particularly those near the Visayas, due to the possibility of developing into a low-pressure area in the coming hours or days.
Forecasts indicate that Palawan could receive 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall, raising the risk of flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in elevated and mountainous parts of the province.
The persistent rain is attributed to the convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres, which is characteristic of the ITCZ.
No storm signal has been raised, but local authorities are advised to remain alert as rainfall could intensify without much warning.
While Metro Manila and most of Luzon are expected to experience fair weather during the mornings, with possible thunderstorms in the afternoon, provinces like Palawan are bracing for continued heavy rain in the days ahead.
