The Department of Health (DOH) in the region announced Friday, February 21, that there is no person under investigation (PUI) for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the whole of Palawan as of the same day.

Dr. Mario Baquilod, regional director of DOH, told Palawan Daily News (PDN) Friday this is true both for the isolation rooms in the Calamianes Group of Islands and Puerto Princesa, particularly the Ospital ng Palawan (ONP).

Baquilod said this could be attributed to the good effect of the travel bans.

“Ang information I got ay wala ang Palawan as of this day. So far wala na kaming nakikitang mga PUIs [o] PUMs (persons under monitoring). Well nagte-take effect na ‘yong mga travel bans. Kasi ang mga nakita ‘natin noon [ay] ‘yong mga nakalusot sa travel ban,” said Baquilod.

He said their assessment is that the banned international flights had already taken effect on this present situation of having no PUIs in the province.

Baquilod added ONP chief Dr. Melecio Dy and chief of medical professional staff of ONP Dr. Audie Cipriano are always calling him immediately for updates.
