Gastos ng Puerto Princesa sa mga quarantine facility, mahigit P600K kada araw

Kasabay ng patuloy na pagsipa ng kaso ng Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) sa Lungsod ng Puerto Princesa, aabot na rin umano sa mahigit kalahating milyon ang ginagastos ng City Government kada araw sa mga nirerentahang pasilidad.

“Kaya ang tanong namin, ganito ba tayo hanggang pangmatagalan? Kasi nauubos natin gastos ‘yong pera ng bayan—nasa 600 plus na ‘yong mga tao natin dito sa quarantine facilities. Isipin po magbabayad kami ng P1,000 diyan [kada araw sa bawat tao]; ilan ang gastos diyan ng City Government? Hindi bababa sa P600,000 a day!” pahayag ni Incident Management Team (IMT) Commander at Assistant City Health Officer, Dr. Dean Palanca sa pamamagitan ng phone interview.

Aniya, sa kasalukuyan ay minimum na ang P600,000 kada araw na dapat bayaran ng siyudad sa mga walong quarantine facilities na kinalalagakan ng mga nagpositibo sa COVID-19 at ng mga antigen positive patient. Ito aniya ay sa paggamit ng silid at araw-araw na pagkain ng mga pasyente.

“Noong April, nasa 150 to 500 ‘yong dami ng tao namin na binabayaran. Ibig sabihin, kalahating milyon a day ‘yon. Ngayon, lagpas kalahating milyon ang gastos ng City Government. Sabi ko, kung itutuloy-tuloy natin ito, mapupurdoy ang City, [at] pauubos ‘yong [available na pwedeng gawing] facilities,” ani Dr. Palanca.

Sa huling datos ng IMT kahapon, May 10, umaabot na sa 561 ang aktibong kaso ng COVID-19 at 26 na ang sumakabilang-buhay. Maliban pa ito sa kaso ng antigen positive patients.
