The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) liquor ban will start today, May 8, until the election day tomorrow, May 9, in accordance with the Resolution No. 10746 made known on December 16, 2021, saying that it will be prohibited for “any person, including owners and managers of hotels, resorts, restaurants, and other establishments of the same nature to sell, furnish, offer, buy, serve, or take intoxicating liquor anywhere in the Philippines.”
However, some hotels, resorts, restaurants, and other establishments which are duly-certified by the Department of Tourism (DOT) may be exempted from the ban, provided that they have secured a written authority.
In line with the ban, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other concerned officials such as those of the regional election directors, provincial election supervisors, election officers, and the law enforcement team en banc will be assigned to implement the said resolution.
