A total of 1,996 relatives of deceased residents in Palawan have received burial assistance in 2022, a report from the Provincial Information Office (PIO) said.
According to PIO, some 1,639 beneficiaries have received a free embalming service for their deceased relatives, 1,640 have received free coffins and a total of 628 beneficiaries have received free transportation for their deceased relatives.
The burial assistance is a program under the Palawan Provincial Government’s PAGASA Program under the supervision of the Community Affairs Division (CAD).
The PAGASA Program was created under the administration of former Palawan governor Jose Chavez Alvarez in 2014.
Rolando Buni, Program Manager of PAGASA said that the provincial government aims to alleviate the suffering of the families who lost their loved ones.
He said that residents can visit the CAD office at the Palawan Capitol Building from Monday to Sunday to apply for the burial assistance program.
