Fourteen responders from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) were chosen to participate in an advanced medical training that incorporates casualty care during a hands-on training assessment held on April 17-19 at the Provincial Police Office Headquarters in Puerto Princesa.
As part of the biggest Balikatan Exercise, the Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3) which addresses current medical training capability gaps aimed at reducing preventable deaths on the battlefield was introduced by the US Navy to the fourteen responders of PDRRMO, and other participants from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Air Force, Philippine Navy, Philippine Army, Philippine Marines and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The participants were taught a range of skills designed to prevent injuries involving bleeding and breathing, and as well as applying tourniquets, bandages and restoring breathing when an airway is blocked.
