But for many students, they said that they “expected” it, that students will trooped either on the first day or during the last day of enrollment.

Janelle, one of the incoming engineering students said that students trooped and crowded both inside and outside the building, specifically those who undergo medical examination in WPU’s infirmary. She said that she was among the first to queue by 7am and finished there 12:30noon. By 1pm, Janelle said that she already started the enrollment process but has to be cut off before 5pm.

“Since wala pa akong boarding house dito sa Aborlan, uwi lang kami ng mga kasama ko, at babalik nalang bukas dito,” she said, further informing that she spend more than P400 in her food and bus fare since she stay in Barangay Sta. Monica in Puerto Princesa.

As observed, common supplies sold in stores near or adjacent to WPU’s main gate has doubled. A long folder with plastic acetate which is only P20 is now sold at P40.

Reynald, an incoming freshmen student said that he bought his supplies in one of the stalls in Aborlan public market, which is cheaper by 50percent. “Doble rin kasi ang presyo pag doon na sa mga tindahan malapit sa school. Sana may sumasaway rin sa mga ganyan na nag-o-overprice na rin”.
