Pro-Hiker mula PPC, patay matapos mahulog sa Taraw Peak sa Barangay San Rafael, Puerto Princesa City

Isang 40-anyos na lalaki ang binawian ng buhay matapos itong aksidenteng mahulog mula sa matarik na bahagi ng Taraw Peak and Caves sa Sitio Dakuton, Barangay San Rafael, lungsod ng Puerto Princesa, nitong Linggo ng umaga, Marso 8.

Kinilala ng mga otoridad ang biktima na si Mark Louie Torrente, isang residente ng lungsod at kilalang “pro-hiker.”

Base inisyal na impormasyon na nakalap ng Palawan Daily, nakatanggap ng tawag ang BFP Puerto Princesa Coity bandang 9:11 ng umaga hinggil sa isang insidente sa Purok Mandaragat sa naturang sitio. Matapos ang pakikipag-ugnayan sa City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) at sa pamunuan ng barangay, agad na tumulak ang walong (???? responders ng BFP.

Dumating ang mga otoridad sa paanan ng bundok bandang 10:45 ng umaga kung saan isinagawa ang initial scene assessment ngunit dahil sa mabatong terrain, inabot ng isang oras ang mga responders sa pag-akyat bago tuluyang narating ang kinaroroonan ng biktima.

Bandang 11:45 naman ng umaga nang matagumpay na makuha ang katawan ni Torrente. Isinagawa ang pagbaba sa cliff trail simula 12:46 ng tanghali.

Sa kasamaang palad, dahil sa tindi ng mga sugat na natamo mula sa pagkakahulog, idineklara itong nasawi bago pa man makarating sa San Rafael Satellite Hospital.

Ang Taraw Peak sa San Rafael ay kilala sa mga lokal na hiker dahil sa hamon ng limestone formations nito, ngunit hindi ito kasing-tanyag ng “Taraw” sa El Nido, kaya’t mas mapanganib ang trail dito para sa mga hindi pamilyar sa lugar.

Sa kasalukuyan, patuloy ang koordinasyon ng BFP at CDRRMO sa pamilya ng biktima habang iniimbestigahan ang eksaktong sanhi ng kanyang pagkakahulog.
