Indigenous farming communities in the southern municipality of Bataraza are seeing enhanced livelihood support through targeted agricultural assistance programs.
Recent rollouts implemented via Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation (RTNMC) through partnership with private stakeholders have focused on delivering specialized crop seedlings and technical training to local growers. The initiatives are designed to help upland farmers diversify beyond traditional single-crop cycles and build stable connections to commercial markets in the town proper and neighboring barangays.
Community development organizers note that localized support packages, frequently featuring high-value fruit varieties like crops alongside standard farm gear, aim to address long-standing economic vulnerabilities in remote rural sectors. By combining material provisions with regular consultations on market pricing and crop management, the program assists growers in establishing reliable supply chains.
In tandem with agricultural assistance, the RTNMC also rollout extended reach to address basic infrastructure needs in the interior. Under a rural electrification project, 24 households in Barangay Malihud, Bataraza, were provided with solar sets in coordination with the local tribal council.
Local stakeholders emphasize that structured partnerships between corporate social programs and indigenous communities remain critical to improving household conditions, expanding basic services, and fostering sustainable productivity across southern Palawan.
