Puerto Princesa mayor Lucilo Bayron reminded the public of the three basic steps to observe to minimizing the threat of 2019 Novel Corona Virus Acute Respiratory Disease (2019 nCoV ARD) in the city.
Bayron shared this with the public Monday during the flag-raising ceremony at the City Hall, citing he got it from a slogan that was released by the United Kingdom (UK), backed up with the guidelines given by the Department of Health (DOH).
“Meron silang slogan na maganda memorize-in natin, maiksi lang naman ito. Ang sabi nila doon, ‘Catch it. Bin it. Kill it.’,” said Bayron.
“Ito ‘yong nilabas na guidelines ng DOH: catch your cough or sneeze, dapat daw kapag uubo o ha-hatsing (ba-bahing) ka ay dapat takpan mo ang bibig mo ng tissue paper, pagkatapos sabi dito bin your tissue paper, pagakatapos mong humatsing huwag mo nang antayin na pangalawang hatsing pa ‘yon itapon na sa basurahan. Doon sa UK ang basurahan nila sarado, sealed bin, dito sa atin bukas man ang mga bin natin [pero] sundin na lang natin, itapon natin kaagad huwag na nating pabayaan diyan umaasa pa tayong magagamit pa natin nang second time. Pagkatapos ay mag-hugas ng kamay [using] soap and water, kasi doon daw kayang patayin ‘yong virus na ito, pagkatapos ay gumamit ng sanitizer gel kung meron,” said Bayron.
Bayron also reminded the public to refrain from spreading unconfirmed information, avoid crowded places and stay calm.
Dr. Ricardo Panganiban, the City Health Office (CHO) chief, also reminded the public to strengthen their immune system by taking a lot of rest, water, and vitamins
Panganiban also added it was on February 2 when they started to require foreign passengers from domestic flights with recent travel history from mainland China, Macau, and Hong Kong, to fill-up health declaratory checklist (HDC) upon arrival at the Puerto Princesa City International Airport (PPCIA).
“Kasi dati ang binibigyan lang ng health declaratory checklist ay ‘yong international flights. Simula po kahapon (Sunday), pati mga domestic flights [na]. Pero ‘yong magfi-fill-up lang ng health declaratory checklist ay ‘yon pong mga foreigner, at ‘yong tinitingnan natin ‘yong mga foreigners na may history ng travel sa mainland China, Macau, at saka Hong Kong. Pero hindi na natin magiging problema ‘yon mayor, although nandoon pa din tayo, kasi lahat ng travel ay ban na sa mainland China, Macau, at saka Hong Kong. Pati ang mga dumadaan doon, ang mga flights, ay wala na din. Kung meron man ay hindi na po ‘yon makakapasok sa Metro Manila,” he added.
