The city government of Puerto Princesa proposed to construct a road from Macarascas going to Manalo, which would provide access primarily to farmers in bringing their products to trading centers and markets.

The Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), has committed to allocate funds for the proposed Mascarascas to Manalo farm-to-market road.

The city government said that it is closely coordinating with the DA-PRDP in order to fasttrack the proposed project’s implementation.

Last week, the city government of Puerto Princesa and the DA1PRDP have convened the different concerned offices. The City Agriculture’s Office headed by City Agriculturist Melissa T. U. Macasaet initiated the meeting with the City Planning and Development Office, City Engineering Office and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO), who are part of the project’s technical working group.

The City Information Office (CIO) said that the proposed project will facilitate the easy transport of agricultural produce from the barangays to urban centers and marketplaces. It will also help increase the income of the local farmers as trade flourishes.

This proposed farm-to-market road project is not the first PRDP-funded project in the city. The PRDP has also funded farm-to-market roads from Langogan to Macandring, Maruyugon Buenavista; and Bual-bualan to Simpocan.
