A fisherman was hacked and stabbed to death by 10 suspects in Purok Pagkakaisa, Barangay Buenavista, this city, 12:05 midnight.

The victim was identified as Demetrio Novero, 60, widower and a resident of the said barangay who sustained multiple stabs and hack wounds that led to his instantaneous death.

The suspects were identified as Dennis Aguilar, Yvis Malate, Ivan Malate, Elvin Aguilar, Anthony Tamparon, Jemar Aguilar, Jhon Devera, Alex Arroyo, Roel Aguilar and Eleodoro Aguilar Jr., also residents of Barangay Buenavista.

Based on initial investigation, the victim was having a drinking spree together with his friends nArmando Delos Reyes and Jeny Boy Panday at the house of a certain Erwin Dagohoy when the suspects passed by and stoned their group.

Novero’s companion ran away and as they went back to the area, they saw the victim lying in the sea shore and found out that he sustained multiple hack and stab wounds to his face and body.

Police Captain Alevic Rentino, Commander of PNP Station 2 said that hot pursuit operations is still conducted by the police operatives to locate and arrest the suspects.

“So far, negative parin at nasa lugar pa ang tropa para sa follow up at hot pursuit. Kilala naman sila at sana maging positive ang lakad ng tropa,” Captain Rentino said in an interview.

Recovered from the crime scene is a bolo believed to be owned by the victim.

“Isang gulok lang ang nakuha, dun din daw sa victim. Napagtripan lang ng mga suspek at nadaanan habang nag-iinuman,” he added.
