The pandemic Queen of Puerto Princesa, the 32nd in the row that was crowned last March 3 at the City Coliseum is Jemimah Joy Zabala, a 24 year-old registered Psychometrician representing the main campus of Palawan State University. She bested other 19 hopefuls this year as part of the 17th year of Balayong Festival, and the 149th founding anniversary of the City Government.
Zabala who also took home best in Swimsuit and Miss Astoria Palawan award is into reading books, mostly related to psychology.
“Syempre sobrang saya! It’s an honor na mapili bilang Miss Puerto Princesa. Ngayon dala-dala ko na hindi lang ‘yung Psychology Society dati hindi lang ‘yung Palawan State University, ngayon dala-dala ko na ‘yung Puerto Princesa City, so syempre masaya but at the same time may kaba pa rin because it has a big responsibility, hindi lang ito ‘yung talagang ganda-ganda lang, talagang it’s a job it’s something that you really have to work on, and I’m looking forward na maisagawa natin ‘yung mga gusto nating magawa for the community and talagang ma-fulfill ‘yung reign natin this year,” Zabala said in an interview after her coronation.
Placing in the first place is 18 year old student leader activist Kyla Catrina De Luz of Sicsican National High School, while the second runner up goes to 22 year old Call Center agent and a proud Tagbanua native Marianne Frietz Padpad who represents Brgy. Sicsican.
Among this year’s honorary judges includes Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm Supt Raul P. Levita, International Flight Attendant Rosemary Jasper and City DILG Chief Eufracio N. Forones as the chairman of the board.
