Nagbabala ang Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa mga politiko maging sa kanilang mga tagasuporta na gagawa ng anumang paglabag o dahas laban sa media workers, journalists, at media practitioners na magiging katuwang ng government sa election 2022 ay maaring mapatawan ng kaukulang parusa.
Ayon kay DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año, ang departamento at ang Philippine National Police (PNP) ay nagkaisa kasama ang Presidential Task Force para Media Security (PTFoMS) upang ipatupad ang safe healthy spaces para sa media practitioners sa nalalapit na elections at ni-launch ang Media Security Vanguards.
“This coming election, let us all together ensure the safety of our media practitioners to spare and protect them from the wrongdoings perpetrated by politicians. Let us keenly look out for their protection from any danger that could prevent them from doing their work efficiently, effectively, and honestly,” saad ni Año.
Ayon pa Kay DILG Secretary 1,899 miyembro ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ay ini-assign bilang PNP Focal Persons para sa Media Security upcoming National and Local Elections (NLE) ngayong May.
133 na mga Public Information Officers (PIOs) ang inilaan 17 police regional offices, 81 police provincial offices, at 20 city police stations. Habang, 1,766 chiefs of police nationwide ang magsasagawa ng operation at ma-implementa ang guidelines for media security vanguards at the local level.
Ang 1,899 PNP Focal Persons katuwang ang PTFOMS Special Agents na protektahan, maimbestigahan ang anumang idudulog na concerns ng media workers.
Itinalaga ni PNP Chief Gen Dionardo Carlos ang PNP PIOs bilang “Media Security Vanguards” at itinalaga rin si P/Gen Roderick Alba bilang Chief Focal Person ng Media Security.
