In a tense rescue operation yesterday, June 30, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel MRRV-4407 successfully rescued a Filipino fishing boat after its engine exploded during a fishing expedition in Bajo De Masinloc.
However, according to Commodore Jay Tarriela, PCG Spokesperson, the rescue mission faced significant challenges as the Chinese Coast Guard deployed two Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBs) to obstruct and hinder the PCG’s efforts.
Instead of assisting, the Chinese RHIBs aimed to prevent the rescue of the injured fishermen, creating a tense and dangerous situation at sea.
Despite the interference, the skilled crew of MRRV-4407, in close coordination with the Filipino fishermen, managed to outmaneuver the Chinese RHIBs. The PCG successfully transferred the injured fishermen to their vessel, giving them the necessary first aid.
