Duo arrested for evading COVID-19 checkpoint

Two persons were arrested by city police operatives after evading an enhanced community quarantine checkpoint in Barangay San Miguel around 3:00 A.M., March 25.

Based on the initial probe, police flagged down a black car with no plate at the checkpoint positioned in Barangay San Miguel to conduct inspection amid the enhanced community quarantine implemented due to the COVOD-19.

The suspects stopped and while being inspected and asked by the police, the driver allegedly sped off, prompting the police to chase and arrest them. It was later found out that one of the suspects was in possession of one plastic sachet containing believed to be marijuana. Violation of RA 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Disobedience upon an Agent of Person in Authority in relation to RA 11332 was being filed against the two suspects that is now under custody of the city police.
