At Tactical Operations Wing West (TOW West), the commitment to holistic wellbeing extends far beyond military duties. The newly established Pastoral Care and
Learning Center at Antonio Bautista Air Base (ABAB), Puerto Princesa City, Palawan stands as a testament to this commitment, offering not only a sanctuary for spiritual and personal growth but also a space where both airmen and their families can find support, solace, and opportunities for continuous learning.
The center was inaugurated on September 6, 2024, in a ceremony led by REV FR (MAJ) DENNIS P FLORALDE CHS and REV FR (CPT) ARNIEL T GODEN CHS, with the presence of BGEN ERICK Q ESCARCHA PAF, Wing Commander of TOW West, alongside his wife, Mrs. Rhea Regina S. Escarcha, whose leadership of the TOW West and ABAB Ladies Club was instrumental in bringing the project to life – one that reflects TOW West’s deeper mission: caring for the emotional and spiritual well-being of its people.
The Pastoral Care and Learning Center serves as a vital hub of support and growth for military personnel at ABAB, known as the “Air Sentinels of the Western Frontier,” and their families. The facility offers a range of services, including pre-marriage counseling, individual and couples counseling, family counseling, group counseling, small group recollection, and spiritual redirection. These services empower airmen to seek guidance and navigate the challenges of military life. Dependents are also welcomed in this supportive environment, where they can participate in learning programs like Sunday school for children and other community events that strengthen family bonds.
The center plays a crucial role in balancing the demands of military service with personal well-being. By supporting both airmen and their families, it recognizes the essential role of dependents in service members’ lives. This space allows individuals and families to reflect, learn, and grow together, enhancing the sense of community within the military.
As the Air Sentinels and their families engage with the Pastoral Care and Learning Center, they find a place dedicated to their holistic development—spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. This commitment to nurturing well-being ensures that they are equipped to embrace their roles not just as soldiers, but as connected individuals and family members.
