The western shores of Aporawan became a concentrated theater of multinational cooperation today, April 27, 2026, as the 41st Exercise Balikatan launched its high-stakes Counter-Landing Live-Fire Exercise.
Under clear blue skies, elite troops from the Philippines, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand stood “shoulder-to-shoulder” on the sand, marking a significant four-nation defensive front along Palawan’s strategic western seaboard.
While earlier military briefings suggested a wider array of participating nations, the Aporawan maneuvers were defined by the seamless integration of these four key allies.
The exercise simulated a rapid response to a maritime invasion, with landing craft visible offshore as ground forces established a defensive perimeter on the beachhead. The presence of Australian and New Zealand forces alongside the PH-US core highlights the growing multilateral nature of regional security efforts in the West Philippine Sea.
