Nagbabala ang Commission on Elections (COMELEC) sa mga indibidwal o grupo na mapatunayang lalabag sa pamantayan ng pangangampanya para sa darating ng plebisito kaugnay ng paghahati ng Palawan sa tatlong probinsiya.
Ayon kay Teopisto Elnas Jr., COMELEC Deputy Executive Director for Operations, agad ipaalam sa ahensya kung ang isang aktibidad ay taliwas sa ‘rules and regulation’ ng pangangampanya.
“We will call the attention nung mga persons responsible or if not, before conducting such an activity i-advice na natin so that ma-avoid na natin yan na magiging violative yung gagawin nila or activities nila doon sa rules and regulations natin.”
“First in being violation dito sa COMELEC rules and procedures natin particularly on the campaign. Second is we will call the attention through our election officer.
Magsasagawa rin ng imbestigasyon ang COMELEC kung hindi sapat ang pagsisita o hindi didinggin ang hiling ng kanilang tanggapan.
“Kung hindi, then proper procedure [at] proper investigation will be conducted. And kung hindi pa yun ano [sapat ay] iaakyat natin sa law department yan for proper investigation [and], of course, filling ng necessary charges against doon sa persons responsible.”
Samantala, nakasaad sa Article X Section 83 ng COMELEC Resolution No. 10682 o Omnibus Election Code na ipinagbabawal ang pagsira, pagtanggal at iba pa ng mga ‘election propaganda’ sa panahon ng ‘campaign period’.
“Sec. 83. Removal, destruction or defacement of lawful election propaganda prohibited. – It shall be unlawful for any person during the campaign period to remove, destroy, obliterate, or in any manner deface or tamper with, or prevent the distribution of lawful election propaganda.”
