Palawan Tourism and Promotions announces the resumption of Montenegro Shipping Lines trips between El Nido and Coron a year after it halted its operations due to scarcity of passengers.
Starting on April 1, travelers will now be able to go to these most popular islands as local tourism reopens.
The shipping company confirmed with the government organization on March 11 the resumption of voyages and their “readiness to service tourist anew as [the] government eases restriction to domestic and foreign travelers.”
El Nido and Coron enforce similar requirements, except Coron will only prioritize those who have S-PASS applications from March 16 to 31 due to various reasons.
Travelers only have to present three requirements to be allowed entry into the municipality: (1) Negative antigen test results taken 48 hours before departure for unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals, (2) vaccination cards for those who are fully vaccinated, (3) round trip tickets and Department of Tourism accredited hotel booking matching the date of their stay and tickets.
Children accompanied by their parents or guardians will have to follow the travel requirements.
S-PASS will still be needed as an entry requirement. Travelers only need to upload their valid ID on the app or website. This will be approved immediately in El Nido.
Those itching to visit Coron and El Nido may check their social media pages for updates, questions, or DOT accredited hotels.
