Another measure to fight the spread of novel Coronavirus (nCoV) is now pushed at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

In the draft resolution of Board Member Cherry Pie Acosta, she earnestly requested all public and private establishments in the province to place hand sanitizers at the entrance and exit of their premises “for the safety of all citizens of this province.”

“Throughout the day, people use their hands to shake hands with other people, open doors and to touch everything which have become magnet for bacterial contamination. All of these activities expose hands to harmful germs, bacteria and viruses,” her proposed resolution reads.

Using hand sanitizer, she said, reduces the microbial count and kills many harmful germs that could infect people with flu and other viruses.

“Proving people with an ‘easy- access hand sanitizing station, allows them to safeguard their hands against the different kinds of virus especially to the widespread novel Coronavirus.”

She enjoins the concerned offices and establishments such as shopping malls, department stores, public and private schools, banks, terminals, and recreational centers to provide hand sanitizer outside or inside their premises to prevent the transmission of the new coronavirus.

Acosta herself has already set up a table with hand sanitizers and alcohol bottles placed outside of her office since last week.

With no vaccine yet to stop nCoV, she reiterates that “the best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus by using alcohol-based hand sanitizer, if soap and water is not available.”

Meanwhile, the author will re-file the resolution on their next regular session next week because there was no quorum today.
