The Municipal Government of El Nido officially declared today, March 11 that the annual Foundation Day celebration is temporarily postponed due to the threat of COVID-19, in a memo signed by Mayor Edna Gacot-Lim released just this afternoon.
As per the memo Order 20-051 addressed to all department heads, committee chairpersons and private sectors, after conducting several consultations and in pursuant to President Rodrigo Duterte’s Proclamation 922, the 104th founding anniversary is hereby temporarily suspended until further notice.
Secretary to Sangguniang Bayan Miguel Gacasa informed Palawan Daily News that there might some events to push through, but on separate dates, however, he was not just sure what events are those.
“Depende sa recommendation ng committee kung ano yung pananaw nila doon, baka meron din po hindi lang namin alam kung anong date,” Gacasa said.
Among the postponed activities for El Nido Foundation Day are EL Nido Singing Idol, Dance Competition, Miss El Nido, Mrs. El Nido, Mass Demonstration, Ms. El Nido Ambassadress, Fire Olympics, Street Dance Competition, LGU Night, Tabuan Market and others.
