The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Mimaropa region administered the turnover of management of Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (PWRCC) to its new project manager, marking a continuing effort to strengthen institutional partnerships in wildlife conservation.

The DENR announced that Atty. Salvador C. Malana III officially assumes office as the new Project Manager replacing outgoing project manager and the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Felizardo Cayatoc.

“After years of dedicated service, Palawan PENRO Felizardo B. Cayatoc formally turned over his role as Project Manager of the PWRCC, concluding a tenure marked by leadership in wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation. In recognition of his contributions, the management awarded him a certificate of commendation for his efforts in PWRCC management and in strengthening partnerships to sustain the Center,” the DENR said.

It said that Atty. Malana was officially designated to the position pursuant to Natural Resources Development Corporation (NRDC) Special Order No. 2026-05 dated February 20, 2026.

“He (Malana) is entrusted to lead, supervise, and ensure the effective implementation of the Center’s operations, including strengthening conservation programs, ensuring compliance with environmental laws and standards, overseeing financial and administrative management, and advancing project development and partnerships,” the DENR announced.

The DENR Regional Executive Director Felix S. Mirasol Jr. and Judge Benjamin D. Turgano (Ret) President of NRDC, administered the formal turnover of management and key responsibilities. The ceremonial handover included the transfer of accountability, corporate documents, and operational oversight of the facility. Also present during the event were CENRO Taytay Conrad Corpuz, along with officials and staff from the DENR MIMAROPA Conservation and Development Division and NRDC, signifying unified support across offices in ensuring a smooth transition.

“As the transition moves forward, DENR MIMAROPA reaffirmed its continued support to the Center and its partners, underscoring the importance of collaboration in advancing wildlife conservation efforts in the region,” the DENR said.

The PWRCC formerly known as the Crocodile Farm, is a premier conservation facility in Barangay Irawan, Puerto Princesa, Palawan, focusing on the protection, breeding, and study of the endangered Philippine crocodile and the Saltwater crocodile. The facility also functions as a rescue center for endangered wildlife and is open to the public for educational tours, allowing visitors to see hundreds of crocodiles and other wildlife species.
