The Provincial Legal Extension Services Program (PLESP) under the Provincial Legal Office (PLO) of Palawan’s Provincial Government successfully organized another free legal consultation and seminar in the town of Aborlan on August 24-25.

Mayor Jaime Ortega warmly welcomed the group, expressing gratitude for the legal services provided to the residents of Aborlan. Board Member Rafael Ortega, Jr. also attended and emphasized the importance of PLESP’s services for barangay officials, employees, and the general public.

The first day of the event featured a seminar and orientation for Lupong Tagapamayapa and barangay officials from the 19 barangays of Aborlan. Topics covered included Katarungang Pambarangay (KP), Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials, Anti-graft and Corrupt Practices Act (RA 3019), Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act (VAWC) (RA 9262), Anti-Trafficking in Persons, and An Act Prohibiting the Practice of Child Marriage (RA 11596). Presenters included Atty. Mary Joy Ordaneza-Cascara, Atty. Vicente Escala, Jr., Atty. Lara Mae Cacal, Atty. Vanessa Bautista from the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), and LGOO II Ivy Diane Piramide from DILG-Palawan, with Atty. Christine Aribon as the Master of Ceremonies.

On the second day, the program provided free legal consultation to Aborlan residents, led by five lawyers from the Provincial Legal Office: Atty. Ordaneza-Cascara, Atty. Escala, Atty. April Joy Rabang-Baylosis, Atty. Tristan Ray Besa, and Atty. Christine Aribon. Additionally, five lawyers from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Palawan Chapter participated: Atty. Kenny A. Pe, Atty. Elgieraydolph Y. Buison, Atty. Edgar Allan D. Ocampo, Atty. Nixon T. Ramirez, and Atty. Joshua L. Abrina.

A total of 81 clients received free legal consultations on matters such as family and barangay problems, VAWC, real estate property issues, and other legal advice needs.

The program’s goal is to personally deliver and extend legal services to citizens across all municipalities in Palawan, in accordance with the directive of Governor V. Dennis M. Socrates.

Aborlan is the seventh municipality to benefit from the legal services of PLESP. Previously, PLESP visited the towns of San Vicente, Roxas, Quezon, Taytay, Bataraza, and Narra in recent months.

The leadership of PLESP, led by Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Joshua Bolusa, expressed deep gratitude for the warm reception from Aborlan, as well as heartfelt appreciation from the town’s residents who participated in and received the free legal services.
