The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) initiated a 15-day training on plastic bayong making and plant propagation to 232 beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
The training aimed to help beneficiaries to augment their daily income.
“Sa pangunguna ng Department of Social Welfare and Development katuwang ang Department of Labor and Employment–Palawan Field Office, layunin ng programa na palakasin ang kakayahan ng mga 4Ps beneficiaries sa pamamagitan ng aktwal na pagsasanay at produktibong gawain na may kaakibat na kabuhayan,” the DSWD explained.
During the training, each participants will receive P455 daily or a total of P6,825 after the training. The DOLE has allocated P1.58 million for the purpose.
Other offices and organizations likewise supported the activity including the offices ot the municipal agriculture and the municipal social welfare and development, and as well as the mayor and vice mayor of Bataraza.
“Malaking tulong din ang ibinigay ng LGU at mga katuwang na ahensya sa pagsasakatuparan ng programa. Ang Municipal Agriculture Office at Provincial Agriculture Office ang nagbigay ng mga trainer para sa plant propagation, habang ang LGU-MSWDO sa pamamagitan ng Iwahig Women’s Association ang nanguna sa plastic bayong making training. Nagpaabot naman ng suporta ang RTN sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng mga rootstocks para sa demonstration activities, habang ang Tanggapan ng Bise Alkalde ay naglaan ng ₱15,000 para sa training materials,” the DSWD said in a statement.
It further said that it is the desire of their office to capacitate 4Ps to train them to become skillful micro-enterpreneurs and enable to sustainably support their respective families.
“Ayon sa mga tagapagpatupad, ang inisyatibong ito ay hindi lamang simpleng pagsasanay kundi isang training-cum-production model na naglalayong maihanda ang mga 4Ps beneficiaries sa aktwal na pagnenegosyo at tuluyang pagsasarili. Sa huli, inaasahang ang mga kalahok ay hindi lamang magiging bihasa sa bagong kasanayan, kundi magiging mga micro-entrepreneurs na handang bumuo ng mas maunlad at mas matatag na kinabukasan para sa kanilang mga pamilya,” the DSWD explained.
