DENR Cenro, Penro, pinapaliwanag ng City Council ukol sa Magarwak quarry

Pinagpaliwanag muli kaninang umaga sa Sangguniang Panlunsod ang mga taga-DENR Cenro, DENR PENRO, at iba pang personalidad hinggil sa panukalang remediation and rehabilitation ng Magarawak quarry sa Bgy. Santa Lourdes, dito sa lunsod ng Puerrto Princesa.

Ayon kay City Councilor Jimmy Carbonnel na siyang Chairman ng Committee on Environment and Natural Resources sa City Council, nais niyang maliwanagan dahil tila hindi tumutugma ang kasalukuyang gingawa sa Magarwak sa ipinanunukalang remediation and rehabilitation.

Kinukwestyun niya rin ang pag-iimbak ng LP Construction ng mga quarry materials na kinuha sa Magarawak sa isang palayan sa Bgy Sicsican samantalang maraming mga barangay ang nangangailangan nito para mapaayos ang kanilang mga kalsada.

Iginiit niya rin dapat ang makinabang dito ay ang mga proyekto ng pamahalaang nasyonal o ng pamahalaang local na sinang-ayunan naman ni Community Environment and Natural Resources officer Felizardo Cayatoc.

Sinabi pa ni Cayatoc na walang anumang permit na inisyu ang kanilang tanggapan hinggil sa kaganapan sa Magarawak pero handa silang magbigay ng technical assistance.

Samantala, kinumpirma naman ni Cayatoc na batay sa report ng kaniyang tauhan na pumunta sa lugar at nagsagawa ng imbestigasyon ay itinigil muna ang quarry activities subalit hindi niya raw matiyak kung muli itong bumalik ng umalis na ang kanilang tauhan.

Iminungkahi niya rin na ibalik magkaroon muna ng pagpupulong para mapag-usapan ng husto ang mga dapat gawin sa lugar.

Dahil dito ay inaprubahan ng city council ang mosyon ni City Councilor Nesario Awat na ibalik muli ito sa Committee on Environment maging ang resolusyon na humihiling sa executive deparment na ipahinto muna ang lahat ng aktibidad sa lugar habang hinihintay pa ang resulta ng pagpupulong.

Nabigo namang makadalo sa patawag ng konseho ang may2ari ng construction firm na nagku-quarry na si Lloyd Policarpio at ang mga kintawan mula sa CENRao kaya nadismaya ang mga konsehal dahil nasa kabilang gusali lang naman ang kanilang tanggapan.
