Persons Deprived of Liberty under Medium Security Compound at Iwahig Corrections Facility voluntarily surrendered communication gadgets to Superintendent Raul Levita.

ICF Chief told Palawan Daily that the items include cellular phones, wireless fidelity (WiFi), chargers and the like being used by PDLs to communicate their relatives outside the facility.

According to Levita, this is a sign that he had the support not only by the personnel of Iwahig but most especially the PDLs they were taking care off.

“Voluntary kasi nagkaroon ako ng talk with the in-charge, ‘yung mga namumuno sa PDL natin and nakita naman po nila na maganda ang adhikain ng bagong administrasyon ng Iwahig. So, bilang pagpakita ng kanilang pakiki-isa sa ating mga programa, ‘yun po ang kanilang share para sa pagbabago ng Iwahig Prisons and Penal Farm,” Levita told Palawan Daily.

But Levita clarified that these communication gadgets were brought inside Iwahig prior to his assignment.

“Pero linawin ko lang po na ito ay naipasok nung time na wala pa ako dito kasi dalawang buwan pa lang ako dito and nagpapasalamat ako sa suporta at pagtanggap nila pati narin sa tiwala sa kakayahan natin para maging matiwasay ang lahat dito sa Iwahig,” he added.

Meanwhile, Levita said that they are going to be more vigilant to avoid communication gadgets to infiltrate or be brought inside the facility.
