The Puerto Princesa City Water District (PPCWD) officially declared Water Crisis Alert Level 3 on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.
Public Advisory No. 3 issued by PPCWD General Manager Antonio Jesus R. Romasanta states that the declaration was due to drastic decline of water supply from average production capacity of 700-750 cubic meters per hour to only 112 cubic meters per hour as of the morning of April 10,2019.
The overall water supply is expected to decrease while there are still not enough rainfall occurences in the city to replenish the sources.
PPCWD said that they will implement contingency measures to address the water shortage including the tapping of private water sources through Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and the implementation of water rationing starting on Friday, April 12, 2019.
It also issued the schedule of availability of water supply in different areas in the city. From 2pm to 12midnight the water supply is available in households and establishments in Brgy. Tiniguiban, San Pedro, Mandaragat, Mabuhay, Pagkaisa, Bagong Silang, Masigla, Sicsican, Tagburos, San Jose, Irawan and Sta. Lourdes.
From 2am to 12noon, services of PPCWD available in Brgy. San Miguel, Rizal Ave, Rizal Avenue extension, Maningning, Manggahan, Model, Masikap, Magkakaibigan, Masipag, Maunlad, Bagong Sikat, Tanglaw, Milagrosa and Bancao.
From 5am until 6pm, the water is available in Brgy. Sta. Monica, City Hall, Employees Village, WPU, Bliss Village, and Sandiwa in Brgy. Tiniguiban.
PPCWD urged the public to cooperate by storing water in containers to help conserve water.
