Balayong Grill and Bar, the only hang out place of Best Western Ivywall Hotel, welcomed Indie music artists throughout the country, as it hosted the first Dalampasigan Sessions, a one-night music gig organized by Floppyhaus and Red Button production featuring independent musicians from Manila.

Pat Abrio of Floppyhaus said that Dalampasigan sessions started way back 2018, and the gig last Oct 26 in Balayong Grill was the 6th edition that they produced here in Palawan, making it a venue for musicians to show their skills in making original music.

The recent show featured visiting artists Jam Labitigan, Maxell Barcelon, Akong Ayalam, Aproaching Zero Band, Justin and Friends, and Maria E that hail from Quezon Province.

The musicians are into different online platform showcasing their heartfelt original songs like Spotify and Youtube. Present also in the gig from local scene is Simon Almira and Sanilyn Gianan.

Abrio told us that Dalampasigan Sessions will be a monthly event for their production, they want to influence local artists to produce original songs rather than doing cover songs, it could be in the City or in some municipalities in Palawan that welcomes them to perform. Balayong Grill and Bar supports this advocacy, having a venue that promotes local culture and artistry.

It looks forward to producing this kind of show that help and grow local artists, hone their talent and hopefully make it mainstream someday.

Balayong Grill and Bar are open nightly from 6:30 PM up to 9 in the evening, located at Best Western Plus, The Ivywall Hotel at Rizal Avenue Extension, Puerto Princesa City. For reservation contact Tel Nos. (048) 736-5100.
