A new sub-station office of the Puerto Princesa City Police Office is expected to be established in Barangay Napsan.

This is after the City Council has passed a resolution Monday requesting the local chief executive, Mayor Lucilo Bayron, to provide the Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) with a piece of land for its sub-station just within the compound of the mini city hall in Brgy. Napsan.

Atty. Philip Jerome Hilario, secretary to the City Council, said during the regular session on Monday the plenary had earlier requested PPCPO to establish a sub-station in Brgy. Napsan.

“They (PPCPO) favorably acted on our request. However, they are requesting a lot in which to place the sub-station. Specifically, quoting [from their letter], ‘Further, this office would like to take the opportunity to request a conducive place for the location of the establishment of the police station for the deployed PNP personnel’,” said Hilario.

Councilor Victor Oliveros, the majority floor leader, stated the matter must first be endorsed to the mayor.

On the other hand, Councilor Elgin Damasco suggested that this endorsement must be zeroed in at the area in Napsan where the mini city hall is already located.

“Iyon pong kahilingan ng City PNP na mabigyan sila ng lote o lupa para pag-tirikan ng kanilang police station doon sa Napsan, puwede naman sigurong itabi doon sa itinayong mini city hall sa Brgy. Napsan, medyo malaki-laki naman. Mas maganda siguro doon na rin malapit sa [mini] city hall,” said Damasco.

Damasco said this would bring ease to the locals to have their important transactions located in one area.

The City Council is also going to inform the PPCPO for the endorsement they made to the local chief executive.

While a new city police sub-station is expected to be established in Napsan, its present recommended location within the compound of the barangay’s mini city hall still depends upon Bayron’s response to this endorsement of the plenary.
