Siniguro ng Puerto Princesa City Water District (PPCWD) na hindi magiging problema ang supply ng tubig sa Lungsod ng Puerto Princesa ngayong paparating na tag-init. Sa ngayon daw kasi ay mataas parin ang antas ng tubig sa Campo Uno dam na pangunahing pinagkukunan ng tubig sa lungsod. Napapakinabangan na rin ang Montible-Lapu-Lapu Waster project.

“Sa ngayon po stable pa ang supply ng tubig natin dito sa Puerto Princesa since yung ating Campo Uno ay tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang operation and then nasa average production capacity. Ngayon po ay nag-average ng nasa 600 cubic meters per hour and then yung average po kasi natin ay 750, so mataas pa po yung 600, kung baga nasa normal level pa yung water level natin. At the same time, yung sources natin sa Montible and Lapu-lapu ay operational din po.” pahayag ni Jenn Rausa, tagapagsalita ng Puerto Princesa City Water District.

Dadag pa ni Rausa, kung sakali man na magkulang ang supply ng tubig ay hindi na katulad noong nakaraang taon na pahirapan ang daloy ng tubig lalo na sa mga matataas na lugar sa lungsod.

“We are expecting ‘di tayo makakaranas ng kakulangan sa supply ng tubig na kasing lala noong mga nakaraang taon kasi ngayon po, February umuulan pa, stable pa ang supply ng tubig natin, maganda pa yung status ng mga ilog natin so we are expecting [na] pagpasok summer season ng March or April ay mayroon pa rin sapat na supply ng tubig. Kasi ngayon, since tuloy-tuloy ang operation ng surface water sources natin naka-standby ngayon ang mga pumping stations,”

Ayon naman kay Babes Montargo ng Barangay San Jose, posibleng hindi na umano nila mararanasan ang kakulangan ng supply ng tubig dahil wala namang masyadong bisita o turista ang lungsod na kakompetensya nila dito.

“Noong nakarang taon nagkaroon ng water rationing talaga, tuwing summer madaming tao dito gumagamit ng tubig. Ngayon walang masyadong tao, walang turista. Siguro mawawalan pa rin [ng tubig] hindi na masyadong maaapektuhan,”

Iba naman ang paniniwala ni Aiz ng Barangay Bagong Sikat. Dahil sa iba na ang nararanasan nating panahon ngayon kaya may posibilidad umano na maulit parin ang kakulangan ng tubig.

“Hindi pa rin yan [masasabi na sapat ang tubig], siyempre yung panahon natin [pabago-bago], nakaraang taon hindi naman kami masyadong apektado noong tag-init dahil mababa ang area namin, pero humihina lang sya (ang supply ng tubig).”

Samantala nanawagan pa rin ang PPCWD na ugaliin pa rin ang pagtitipid ng tubig.

“We still advice our consumers na paigtingin pa rin po ang pagtitipid ng supply ng tubig natin dahil mayroon man tayong supply ngayon but this is a limited resource so kailangan po talaga magtipin pa rin tayo, mag-conserve tayo ng ating supply ng tubig.” Karagdagang pahayag ni Rausa.
