Palawan 2nd District Congressman Jose C. Alvarez, who is also the House of Representatives’ Committee on Energy chair, recently visited Roxas town and discussed with local officials and residents the possibility of hosting a biomass power plant.

The local officials led by Roxas Municipal Mayor Pedy Sabando welcomed the idea.

The mayor said that Cong. Alvarez told them that Roxas has been considered as the site of a biomass power plant project.

Alvarez explained that Roxas is potential site being a good source for the biomass power plant feedstock which includes wood, agricultural wastes and residue, and other forest residue.

The mayor explained that this proposed project will definitely help pump prime their town’s economy which local residents can benefit from, since it will generate employment. It will also pave way for their town to produce clean and sustainable power source.
