Cong. Alvarez, humarap sa mga pro-mining groups sa Brooke’s Point; ‘Ayaw namin na wala kayong trabaho!’

Personal na humarap at nagbigay ng maikling pahayag si Palawan 2nd District Representative Jose Chaves Alvarez sa mga pro-mining groups na nagtipon-tipon sa may harap lamang ng munisipyo ng Brooke’s Point noong Miyerkules upang ipahayag ang kanilang suporta sa Ipilan Nickel Corporation (INC).

Sa pakikipag-usap ni Alvarez sa grupo, sinabi nito na hindi umano siya pro-mining at anti-mining at ang gusto lamang niya ay ang pagkakaroon ng trabaho at kabuhayan ng mga residente at maging ng mga katutubo sa nasabing bayan.

“Ako hindi ako anti-mining at hindi din ako pro-mining. Ngunit, kung saan maraming trabaho ang tao ‘yun ang ipagpatuloy natin,” pahayag ni Alvarez sa pagharap sa grupo.

Dagdag pa niya, “Ako nakiusap sa mga kapitan at sa Ipilan Nickel na ang mga nagtatrabaho sa Ipilan Nickel [ay] puro mga katutubo na tulad natin, ninyo, ay hindi pwedeng magtigil ng trabaho…ayaw namin na wala kayong trabaho!”

Kasamang humarap ng kongresista sina Mayor Cesaero “Jun” Benedito Jr., at ang Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Resident Mine Manager ng INC na si Alex Arabis.

Samantala, para naman kay Mayor Benedito, muli nitong iginiit ang mga hinihinging dokumento ng lokal na pamahalaan sa INC bago umano ito mabigyan ng mayor’s permit.

“Ako po ang stand ko, tulad ng dati at yung pinag-usapan namin nila sir Alex tungkol doon sa mga requirements ay ‘yon pa rin ang pinag-uusapan hanggang ngayon,” pahayag niya.

Ayon naman kay Arabis, sinabi nito na tuloy-tuloy umano ang trabaho ng mga residente at katutubo sa minahan. Dagdag pa, kanila ring ipinaalam sa mga residente kung may bagong oportunidad o posisyon sa kumpanya upang sila’y makapasok.

Matatandaan na noong April 8 ay nagsagawa rin ng parehong aktbidad ang grupo na kinabibilangan ng barangay mula sa Barong-barong, Ipilan, Calasaguen, Mambalot, Samariñana, Tubtob, at Uring-uring.
