The Department of Agriculture-Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (DA-PHILMECH) provided new machineries to farmers in the town of El Nido.
At the turnover ceremony held on Thursday, August 19, 12x Units Rice Thresher, 11x Units Hand Tractor, 8x Rice Reaper, 6x Units Transplanter, 2x Units 4WD Tractor and Ix Unit Combined Harvester were presented by the said agency and Local Government Unit (LGU).
The said farm equipment was distributed by PhilMech through the “Agri-equipment project”.
According to the LGU, the new machineries are expected to help revitalize agriculture in their municipality.
“Sa modernisasyon ng pagsasaka, patuloy na i-aangat ang antas nito upang masigurong food secured ang bayan sa mga darating na panahon,” as stated on their Facebook post.
The turnover ceremony was led by Engr. Erjhon Cabungcal of PhilMech, Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Romeo Cabungcal, Municipal Agriculturist Virginia Balderas, Mayor Edna Gacot-Lim and Presidents of various farmers associations.
