The Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO) in collaboration with the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) successfully hosted a Youth Camp on September 16-17, 2023, in Barangay Rio Tuba, Bataraza, Palawan.
This event saw the participation of forty (40) enthusiastic youths, including members of KOOP-BATA and students from Leonides S. Virata Memorial School (LSVMS) in the aforementioned locality.
Themed “Youth Climate Action Toward Building Sustainable, Peaceful, and Resilient Schools,” the PCDO played a pivotal role in equipping these budding leaders with essential financial knowledge.
They delved into topics like prudent financial management, strategies for savings and investment, and the importance of fiscal responsibility. The aim was clear – to empower these youth with the tools they need to make informed financial decisions and secure their financial futures.
Simultaneously, the PCSD took charge of enlightening the participants about environmental conservation practices. Given Palawan’s rich biodiversity and ecological significance, understanding how to protect and preserve its natural wonders is not just a choice but a responsibility.
The participants were introduced to sustainable practices, the significance of biodiversity, and the critical role they can play in safeguarding the environment.
According to PCD Officer Gina Socrates, the primary goal of their office is to enlighten the youth not only about responsible environmental stewardship but also the significance of entrepreneurship and financial growth.
“It is our aim to promote among the youth a deeper understanding about environmental conservation and, at the same time, enhance their entrepreneurial spirit,” Socrates said.
