As part of the 123rd-anniversary celebration of the Philippine Civil Service, several employees of the Palawan Provincial Government participated in an HIV Awareness and Mental Health Seminar held at the VJR Hall in the provincial capitol building yesterday, September 14.

During the event, PHRMO (Provincial Human Resource Management Office) Rolando B. Buñi emphasized the significance of such activities in preparing employees to deliver effective services to the people of Palawan.

He stressed that, in addition to providing various projects to municipalities and barangays, investing in the development of human resources is essential. This preparation ensures that employees are equipped with the necessary skills and readiness to serve clients effectively.

Mrs. Norry Fe-an T. Torrible-Payopelin, MedTech Coordinator from the PHO (Provincial Health Office), shared the current state of HIV in the province.

According to their latest data as of August 31, there are 288 reported positive cases. She discussed the conditions of those with HIV, possible transmission causes, prevention methods, and the treatment process.

Furthermore, Ms. Devie Mae T. Navarro, Social Welfare Officer II from the PSWDO (Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office), delved into the topic of “Mental Health in the Workplace.”

Her presentation covered aspects such as organizational culture, psychological support, leadership expectations, psychological demands, growth and development, recognition and rewards, involvement and influence, workload management, psychological protection, and physical safety.

This informative seminar was organized through the collaborative efforts of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), with support from the Provincial Human Resource Management Office (PHRMO).
