The exceptional dedication and performance of Palawan’s local legislative bodies were spotlighted as they received accolades in the 2023 Local Legislative Award (LLA).

The event, held on October 1-3, recognized the commendable achievements of Sanggunians across the province, encompassing various municipalities and cities.

The LLA, which spans from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2023, seeks to honor and acknowledge the outstanding contributions of local legislative councils in attaining socio-economic and environmental progress within their respective jurisdictions.

These exceptional councils were evaluated based on a comprehensive set of criteria, which included:

Availability of Legislative Documents: Ensuring that legislative documents were accessible to the public, promoting transparency and accountability.

Effectiveness of Sanggunian Performance: Evaluating the council’s ability to enact meaningful policies and resolutions that positively impacted the community.
Efficiency of Sanggunian Performance: Measuring the council’s effectiveness in handling legislative matters promptly and efficiently.

Legislative Citations and Awards: Recognizing councils that have received commendations and awards for their outstanding work.

Capacity Development for Legislators and Staff: Highlighting efforts to enhance the skills and knowledge of Sanggunian members and staff.

The awardees for the 2023 LLA from Palawan province include Narra, Palawan (Provincial Nominee), Aborlan, Palawan (1st Class Municipality Category), and Quezon, Palawan (2nd Class Municipality Category). Their exceptional efforts and dedication to governance have been pivotal in driving progress and positive change within their respective communities.

The LLA ceremony featured inspiring speeches from local leaders, emphasizing the importance of collaborative and effective governance in building a brighter future for Palawan.

A special appreciation was also extended to the Sangguniang Bayan Secretaries and Staff for their crucial role in preparing the necessary documents and ensuring the success of this endeavor.

The 2023 Local Legislative Award not only applauds past achievements but also sets the bar high for future endeavors.
