Nag-deploy ng dalawang 44-metro na Multi-Role Response Vessels (MRRV) ang Philippine Coast Guard upang suportahan ang Rotation and Resupply (RoRe) mission ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa Ayungin Shoal, araw ng Martes Agosto 22.

Ang mga barko ng PCG – ang BRP Cabra at BRP Sindangan – ay nag-escort sa mga katutubong bangka na ginamit ng AFP bilang mga supply vessel para maghatid ng mga kagyat na kagamitan sa ating mga tropa sa BRP Sierra Madre sa Ayungin Shoal. Matagumpay na natapos ang misyon noong ika-22 ng Agosto 2023, kahit na may mga pagtatangkang gawin itong hadlangin, harasin, at mang-alam ng mga barko ng China Coast Guard (CCG) at Chinese Maritime Militia (CMM).

Ang mga barko ng PCG ay nagpamahagi ng ligtas at maayos na paghahatid ng mga kagamitan sa mga tapat na kasundaluhan natin na naka-post sa Ayungin Shoal.
Nag-antabay rin ang mga barko ng Philippine Navy sa panahon ng misyon.

Ang PCG ay labis na ipinagmamalaki ang pag-suporta sa AFP sa pagsusumikap na mapanatili ang ating presensya sa Ayungin Shoal.

Binanggit ni Coast Guard Admiral Artemio Abu, ang PCG Commandant, na ang mga pagsasama at pagkakaisa ng layunin sa AFP ay malakas na nagpapakita ng determinasyon ng ating pamahalaan na ipaglaban ang ating mga soberanyang karapatan at hurisdiksyon sa West Philippine Sea.

Patuloy na tutuparin ng PCG ang kanyang mga obligasyon sa ilalim ng 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), ang 2016 Arbitral Ruling, COLREGS at iba pang mga kaugnay na internasyonal na instrumento sa kaligtasan at seguridad sa karagatan, at nananawagan sa lahat ng mga partido na tigilan ang mga ilegal na gawain sa mga maritime zone ng Pilipinas.
