Barangay Antonio in Roxas town is considered as the remotest, far-flung hinterland village almost 50 kilometers from the town proper, and is among the recipient of the newly-purchased emergency and rescue vehicle of the municipal government.
Being one of the town’s farthest barangay, reaching there is a challenge, commuting via topdown or motorcycle for hire as the fastest means to reach the town proper.
Roxas Mayor Pedy Sabando announced that Barangay Antonino is among the barangays that are recipients of the emergency/rescue vehicles.
Punong Barangay Roberto Chiva of Barangay Antonino said that in the past years, locals brought their patients to the town proper or nearest hospital through a top down or an improvised tricycle.
“Mas mahalaga ang buhay ng isang tao kaya dapat mayroon tayong agarang aksyon para matulongan ang aking mga kababayan – Mayor Sabando said.
Some 10 units emergency/ rescue vehicles arrived in Roxas municipal hall recently.
“Ito ay bahagi ng patuloy na pagtupad ng lokal na pamahalaan sa pangunguna ni Mayor Pedy B. Sabando sa kanyang ipinangakong pagkakaloob ng tig-isang rescue vehicle sa bawat barangay,” the Roxas LGU said in a statement.
Mayor Sabando informed the barangays that the municipality will shoulder the fuel expenses of the rescue/ emergency vehicles. “Layunin ng proyektong ito na mas mapalakas ang kakayahan ng bawat komunidad sa mabilis na pagtugon sa mga emerhensya at sakuna,” Roxas LGU further said.
